WWF Signs Memorandum with Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities
WWF Uganda and the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities (MTWA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The purpose of this MoU is to provide a robust framework for strengthened collaboration and cooperation between MTWA and WWF Uganda in planning, coordinating, and implementing programs and projects.
Permanent Secretary Doreen Katusiime highlighted the importance of this partnership in addressing the challenges faced in wildlife conservation.
"This MoU marks a pivotal moment for Uganda's conservation efforts. By partnering with WWF Uganda, we are strengthening our capacity to protect and manage our biodiversity, which is crucial for both our environment and our tourism industry," she said.
WWF Executive Director for Country Offices, Prasanna De Silva, emphasized the significance of this collaboration for sustainable development.
"WWF is committed to working hand-in-hand with the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities to develop and implement effective conservation strategies. This MoU provides a mechanism to identify specific areas of cooperation, ensuring that our efforts are well-coordinated.
This partnership is expected to yield significant benefits for Uganda's wildlife and tourism sectors, fostering sustainable development and conservation initiatives that will safeguard the country's natural heritage for future generations.
