WWF Convenes Environment and Natural Resources CSO Network

WWF in Collaboration with Environment Alert convened the Environment and Natural Resources CSO Network (ENR-CSO) with a critical objective of strengthening the network’s effective participation in the planning processes including lobbying and advocacy efforts while improving the Network’s relationship with government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as well as donors.

Speaking at the event, WWF’s Ivan Tumuhimbise stressed the need to strengthen the network for members to learn, share key milestones, challenges among others.

“Additionally, we need to actively contribute to priority areas of undertaking by government and foster collective action and advocacy”, he tipped.

During the meeting, consolidated ENR-CSO Network Annual Report (APR 2024) was developed and shared for inclusion in the Government main report, with clear policy recommendations. Additionally, the ENR-CSO Network’s participation in the ENRCCLWRM program review processes under NDPIII was enhanced.

The meeting also saw the ENR-CSO Sub-Sector achievements, challenges, lessons learnt, and key recommendations identified, documented and shared for action. The ENR-CSO Network working relationship with Government and visibility was also enhanced.

This was evidenced by the presence of Government Commissioners across all environment sectors represented, including the COP29 government negotiators who picked the CSO position on various issues ahead of COP 29
