WWF-Norway Leadership to Visit WWF-Uganda

WWF in Uganda is set host the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of WWF-Norway, Bård Vegard Solhjell next week.

The visit is purposed on gaining insights and taking stock of lessons learned on how the two sister offices can further develop Renewable Energy work as well discussions around limiting the negative impacts of oil developments on nature and people and the Oil and Gas program.

The CEO will be in company of the Program Director of WWF Norway and a Senior Advisor. The team of three is set to meet with WWF Uganda partners implementing programs on Renewable Energy as well as Extractives.

According to the Renewable Energy Manager, Ibrahim Mutebi, the Norway delegation will also have dinner at the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Uganda together with the WWF Uganda leadership led by the Country Director.

WWF Norway will use insights and lessons learnt from this visit to further develop WWF Norway’s policy on Development Aid to effectively influence the policy of the Norwegian Government on the same.

WWF in Uganda through the Energy, Climate and Extractives Programme works with partners to implement projects that develop and promote access to cost effective and environmentally friendly energy solutions to meet domestic, institutional, and productive energy needs of the country.

The Norwegian International Development Cooperation Agency (Norad) is the largest   funder of this work.
